Privacy Policy

Overview

This policy explains how Hex to ASCII Converter ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use hextoascii.co. The site is independently operated; privacy questions, operator inquiries, and rights requests can be sent to support@hextoascii.co.

Converter Inputs and Outputs

Conversion and calculation code runs in your browser. The application does not send the text, hexadecimal values, binary values, colors, calculator operands, or generated outputs that you enter in a tool to our servers or to Google Analytics. Do not enter confidential information on a shared or untrusted device.

Information Processed When You Visit

The following limited information may be processed:

  • Essential request and security data: our hosting infrastructure necessarily receives the requested URL, date and time, IP address, browser user agent, and basic error information to deliver and protect the site.
  • Privacy preference: your Analytics choice is saved in hextoascii_consent_v1 in browser localStorage.
  • Theme preference: the light or dark theme may be saved in localStorage on your device.
  • Optional conversion history: history is off by default. If you explicitly enable it, the latest 20 tool inputs, outputs, previews, and settings are stored only in localStorage on that browser. Turning history off or selecting “Clear” deletes those entries.

Error monitoring

To keep the site reliable, we use Sentry, an error-monitoring service, to receive a sanitized report when browser code fails. A report may contain the error category, code location, page path without query parameters or fragments, site domain, and deployment version.

Before transmission, our code removes error messages, tool inputs and outputs, form values, user details, cookies, headers, request bodies, interaction history, and stack-frame variables. Session replay, performance tracing, logs, and metrics are disabled. Sentry necessarily receives connection data such as an IP address when accepting the report and processes it as our service provider. Read Sentry's privacy notice.

Google Analytics

We load Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to measure how the site is used. They may process online identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, browser and device information, referring page, pages viewed, session information, and allow-listed operational events such as using a converter or copy button. Our event code deliberately excludes converter inputs, outputs, clipboard content, and free-form user text.

What Analytics is allowed to store depends on where you are, using Google Consent Mode:

  • European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland: analytics storage is denied by default. Until you select Allow analytics, Analytics sets no cookies and stores no identifier on your device; only cookieless signals are sent.
  • Elsewhere: analytics storage is granted by default, because prior consent is not legally required. You can turn it off at any time.

Advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization are denied in every region regardless of your choice. You can change or withdraw your Analytics choice at any time through ; the site then saves the denied choice, attempts to remove first-party Google Analytics cookies from this domain, and reloads the page so the previously loaded Tag Manager runtime is no longer present.

Advertising and Google AdSense

The site currently uses only an ads.txt entry and a static google-adsense-account meta tag to verify publisher ownership. These elements do not load Google advertising code, set advertising cookies, or display ads. We do not currently load pagead2, Auto Ads, or ad units.

Before advertising is activated, we will configure a Google-certified consent management platform where required and keep advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization denied until the appropriate choice has been collected.

If AdSense is activated, third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies or use web beacons, IP addresses, and similar identifiers as a consequence of ad serving. Google and its partners may use advertising cookies to select ads based on a user's previous visits to this site or other sites. The certified consent message will identify the participating vendors and provide the choices required for the visitor's region. Users can also manage or opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. Google may process device information, ad impressions, and interactions as described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. This policy will be updated if the advertising setup changes.

Purposes and Legal Bases

  • Provide and secure the service: legitimate interests and performance of the service you request.
  • Remember essential choices: necessary browser storage and our legitimate interest in respecting those choices.
  • Measure and improve the site: consent where prior consent is required (EEA, UK, Switzerland); legitimate interests in other regions. Either way you may refuse or withdraw without losing access to the tools.
  • Advertising, if activated: consent where required, using the choices presented by a Google-certified consent platform.

Sharing and International Processing

We do not sell personal information. Hosting and security providers may process essential request data on our behalf. Google receives Analytics data subject to the regional consent defaults described above, and never receives converter inputs or outputs. These providers may process information outside your country and use legal transfer safeguards described in their own terms and privacy documentation.

Retention

  • Theme, privacy, and optional history data remain on your device until you remove them, clear browser data, or disable history.
  • Application error logs are emitted for operational troubleshooting and are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for reliability and security.
  • Google Analytics retention is governed by the property settings and Google's policies; aggregated reports may remain after event-level data is deleted.
  • We retain messages you send to support only as long as needed to answer, document, and resolve the request.

Your Choices and Rights

You can refuse Analytics without affecting the converter, reopen Privacy choices from the footer, disable or clear conversion history in its panel, and clear localStorage and cookies in your browser. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, request portability, or withdraw consent. You may complain to your local data protection authority.

Because there are no user accounts and converter content is not sent to us, we may hold no data that can be matched to you. For a request concerning support or technical records, email us with enough detail to locate the relevant record. We may need to verify the request before acting.

Children

The site is a general-purpose developer utility and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support message, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

Policy Changes

We will revise the fixed “Last updated” date when this policy changes. Material changes will be explained on this page before or when they take effect.
